Missouri State Fair For the past two years, Socket has sponsored the Pig Races at the Annual Missouri State Fair. It is a hootin' hollerin' good time every year, and we can't wait to do it again! We'll be at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia from August 12-22. Come watch the pigs fly (not literally of course). Eat delicious food (Funnel cake, yum!). And have FUN like only the fair can deliver! There are several exciting concerts coming this year, and we'll have a chance for you to win tickets. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages for more info. Recent Events Show-Me State Games Village Socket participated at the Olympic-style festival in support of Missouri sports on July 16th-17th at the Hearnes Center. It was the introduction of "The Village", where vendors passed out swag and chatted with attendees. For more info, visit Show-Me State Games Village . Both Friday and Saturday were scorchers, but participants kept cool with the McAllister's ice tea and fans provided by the Missouri Lottery.
Kickballapalooza Socket participated in Kickballapalooza, sponsored by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, on July 15th. We won our first game versus Delta Systems (an awesome customer of ours). The score was 5 to 3. Our second game did not go as well, however. We lost 5 to 0 against Bucket Media (also an awesome customer of ours). Bucket Media went on to win the entire tournament. It was a great time, and we look forward to participating again next year. Maybe we'll practice a little more thought.
Day of Caring Socket teamed up with the River City Habitat for Humanity on June 26th to help build a house in Jefferson City. This particular house is the result of an aluminum can collecting campaign. It's the house that cans built, but we helped!
Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament Socket sponsored Hole #4 at the tournament. Those who attended participated in hillbilly golf, a classic backyard game. The golfers were competing for glory, but also to win a B.K. Bakery breakfast delivered to their office. Talk about the office hero! Brian from Capital Plaza Hotel won. His office must be loving him.
Fulton Street Fair Thanks for hittin the bricks with Socket at the 2010 Fulton Street Fair! If you went on Saturday and missed us, you can thank the surprise storm on Friday night. When we arrived on Saturday, our tent was destroyed and on the opposite end of the block. We were even informed that it had landed on top of a Police car. Eek! Check out the wreckage here. www.fultonstreetfair.missouri.org.
KMOS Kid's Day Many kids joined Socket at the 2010 KMOS Kid's Day and participated in our June Coloring Contest. They were entertained by Clifford, Dora and the whole PBS family. Even Gill from Big Surf Waterpark came out to support our coloring contest.
Adopt A Spot Socket helped clean up Columbia June 11th on Clark Lane between Paris and HWY 63. We were hot and sweaty, and we found some rather interesting discarded items. But it was worth it!
Summerfest and Art Show Columbia residents stopped by the Socket booth on June 12th at The Village of Cherry Hill and learned about our Internet service while their children participated in our June coloring contest. Unfortunately, the festival was cut short by a sudden downpour. Don't worry; we saved the coloring sheets. We were SOAKED though.
Art in the Park Socket was proud to attend mid-Missouri's oldest and largest fine-arts festival, Art in the Park, on June 5th and 6th. Art from more than 100 artists from around the country, delicious food and fun activities for the whole family were set up at Stephens Lake Park. Socket shuttled guests to and from the parking lot and entertained the kiddos with interactive crafts.

Ronald McDonald House Golf Tournament The twelfth annual Golf Tournament was a fun way to give back to a worthy charity. Socket is proud to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri in their initiatives to support families in need. Three teams of Socketeer and honorary Socketeer golfers teed off on May 5, 2010 at the Eagle Knoll Golf Course in Hartsburg, Missouri. All the golfers got to try their luck at Hillbilly Golf at the Socket sponsored hole. Visit the Ronald McDonald House Website for more info about the cause and how you can give back. Neighborhood Party What a blast! Thank you to everyone who came out to Cosmo-Bethel Park on Thursday, April 29th for our Neighborhood Party. Visitors enjoyed Shakespeare's pizza, delicious cookies, a bounce house, bingo and tons of prizes. Congratulations to one lucky guest who won a year's worth of free Shakespeare's Pizza! This Neighborhood Party was particularly special because we awarded our first round of donations from the Honest to Goodness program. Local charities received more than $3,000 of donations.
2nd Annual Fish Fry On April 23rd, Socket hosted a company party and invited a few neighbors. We had a blast with bounce houses, a petting zoo, horse rides, delicious catfish and more!

This year, we were in for a real treat... the keynote speaker was Craig Newmark, the founder of the immensely successful site, Craigslist.org.
Kirksville Spring Expo The NEMO Fairgrounds were the home to the 2010 Kirksville Spring Expo. Thanks to the Kirksville Chamber of Commerce for putting on such a fun event.
